Rothesay Library to host ‘The Illustrators’ exhibition

AN EXHIBITION of work by more than a dozen contemporary children’s book illustrators will be unveiled at Rothesay Library this week.

‘The Illustrators’ is curated by author Julia Donaldson - best known as the creator of The Gruffalo - and features the work of that book’s illustrator, Axel Scheffler, and of many other talented artists including Jonathan Allen, Emily Gravett, Joel Stewart, Karen George and Paul Hess.

As well as original works by the 16 featured illustrators, visitors to the exhibition will also see examples of early sketches, preliminary ideas and other preparatory work as well as images from forthcoming books, while Julia Donaldson has loaned work to the exhibition from her own personal collection of her books’ illustrations.

The free exhibition can be viewed from this Thursday, November 24, during the library’s normal opening hours (10am-1pm and 2pm-7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays).
