The re-opening of the Discovery Centre Cinema in Rothesay will not now take place at the end of this week.

The cinema, at the Isle of Bute Discovery Centre, is currently closed to allow new carpets and seating to be fitted, completing the refurbishment of the facility after new digital projection equipment was installed last month.

The doors were due to open after the refit this Friday - but the centre’s manager, Hazel Mulholland, has contacted The Buteman to say that due to late delivery of the brand new seating, the cinema will now re-open on Wednesday, April 1.

When it does so, it will be with a party before the first Bute screening of the new live-action version of Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Branagh.

Next Wednesday’s screening starts at 7.30pm and booking for the showing is strongly advised - however, the Discovery Centre will be open to all between 6pm and 7.15pm to allow everyone to soak up the atmosphere. Princess costumes encouraged - for grown-ups as well as the children!
