A golden autumn awaits you with Bute Film Club. After surveying members, the committee has drawn up an exciting and varied programme.
The season kicks off on Sunday, October 27, with ‘Untouchable’, the story of a wealthy quadriplegic whose advert for a carer attracts a response from a young offender. To the latter’s surprise, he gets the job and a close friendship develops. The screenings are in the Isle of Bute Discovery Theatre at 7.30pm.
Evenings will feature the usual draw for a pair of tickets for one of the Discovery Theatre’s scheduled films, a convivial glass of wine at a (very) modest price and the chance to hire a DVD from the growing stock of films shown. This year, the club is introducing the opportunity to discuss the films after the screening.
Bute Film works closely with the Discovery Theatre, publishing each other’s schedules and liaising on available movies. The club is now in its 12th year and runs solely on its membership fees. Members may bring along a guest. This year the price of a guest ticket will be £7 so it’s worthwhile taking out a membership at £20 per half season of four films.
Watch out in The Buteman for the full programme.
