Bute councillor and Argyll and Bute provost Len Scoullar has been chosen to be the ceremonial chieftain at next month’s Bute Highland Games.

Councillor Scoullar will take up the ceremonial role at the biggest single-day event in Bute’s calendar, taking place this year on Saturday, August 22.

“This is among the finest honours that have been put my way in all the years I’ve been living on Bute,” he told The Buteman, “and I’m so appreciative.

“I couldn’t believe it when the committee asked me to accept the appointment - which I did so with alacrity - and I would like to thank them very much for considering me suitable for the role.”
