Six Rothesay Academy pupils visited a local jewellery shop and studio this week at the end of an exciting new design project to complement the firm’s ‘Bute’ range.

The S3 art pupils were given a brief by Richard and Shirley Home of Scottish Island Jewellery to design a brooch inspired by the island.

Members of the public were given the chance to vote for their favourite from the designs displayed in the couple’s shop in Victoria Street, and all the pupils involved were given the chance to visit Richard and Shirley’s shop and studio to learn more about the jewellery-making process.

The winning design, by Layla Templeton, will be made in pewter and available to buy in the new year.
