A dance night at Rothesay Pavilion in aid of local charity Calum’s Cabin has been cancelled - just a day after being announced.
The charity announced on its Facebook page on Wednesday that the GB Experience, featuring Clyde 1 DJ George Bowie and guests, would be coming to the Pavilion on Friday, August 23 - the night before the Bute Highland Games.
But 24 hours later, in a further Facebook update, the charity said that after receiving a call from Clyde 1, “due to circumstances out with their and our control” the event was being cancelled.
DJ Bowie later said on Twitter: “Apparently they have changed the date because we need to hire sound and security.
“I think there was a problem with accommodation on that weekend too because of the Games.
“It will happen but it’ll probably be October.”
Radio Clyde listeners donated more than £60,000 to Calum’s Cabin in a single day earlier this year through the station’s Cash for Kids charity.
Calum’s Cabin, set up in memory of 12-year-old Calum Speirs, who died in 2007 after a year-long battle against a brain tumour, supports families of children with cancer by offering them a holiday on Bute, either at the original Calum’s Cabin at St Ninian’s Bay or at Calum’s Cabin Cottage at Eastlands Park in Rothesay.
