Spectators numbering into the thousands lined the streets of Rothesay on Saturday evening as pipe bands from all over Scotland marched through the town at the end of a sun-kissed Bute Highland Games.

Glorious weather encouraged a big crowd along to the public park in the town’s High Street for the showpiece event in the island’s calendar, which this year had David Grevemberg, chief executive of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, as its chieftain.

In addition to the pipe bands, this year’s Highland Games featured dancers, wrestlers and athletes from all over Scotland and beyond, all of whom saw their efforts warmly applauded by a crowd which gathered from far and wide to enjoy the occasion.
