The Christmas lights in both Rothesay and Port Bannatyne will be switched on this Friday, December 4.

The Rothesay lights will be illuminated by the Academy’s school captains at 4pm in Guildford Square, with additional entertainment from Douglas ‘Big Dougie’ Lyle.

Then, at 7pm, it’ll be the turn of North Bute Primary School pupil Carys Rae to throw the switch turning on Port Bannatyne’s festive display.

Carys won an art competition organised for the whole school by the Port Gala and Community Group, which is in charge of the lights display in the village - though plenty of her classmates will be there on Friday night too to provide musical entertainment.

We’ll see you on Friday afternoon - hope the weather smiles on both events!
