The pride and love for the Isle of Bute by the island’s primary school children was clear to see in a huge Rothesay art display last weekend.

Their flag designs, pictures, drawings and letters were aimed at fostering closer links with young people in the Asian island nation of Sri Lanka.

Visitors to the ‘Child’s Eye View of Bute’ exhibition in the United Church of Bute Hall were greeted by more than five hundred pictures and letters including magical illustrations of castles, boats, animals, ferries and ice cream cones, plus drawings and letters about the youngsters’ every day lives.

The overall winner was eight-year-old Cody Thomson from North Bute Primary, while Rachel Allan and Eden Quinn were behind the best Rothesay Primary entry and Theresa Morrison-Richards submitted the best entry from St Andrew’s Primary.
