Plans for a heritage centre at Meikle Kilmory on the west side of Bute have been shelved.

The decision by the Bute Conservation Trust not to proceed with the project follows a decision by the Heritage Lottery Fund to turn down an application for ‘stage one’ funding for the scheme.

Donald Kinnear, acting chair of the BCT, told The Buteman: “In the light of this decision by the HLF and the inevitable increase in capital costs which would be faced by postponing the project it was reluctantly agreed by the Trustees that the heritage centre project should not proceed.”
