Writer, broadcaster and commentator Lesley Riddoch will visit Rothesay this coming Tuesday, September 22, to give a talk on her perspective on Scotland’s future.

Ms Riddoch, a prominent member of the Yes campaign in the run-up to last year’s independence referendum, has written a book entitled ‘Blossom: What Scotland Needs To Flourish’ - though the book is not specifically about the campaign for independence, its publication having pre-dated the landmark vote by a full year.

Instead it takes as its theme the stories of Scots who have struggled to improve their communities, often without help from the authorities and in the face of a society which she calls “remarkably elitist, top-down [and] centralised” - and suggests looking to the Nordic nations for examples of ways forward for Scotland.

Her talk, at the United Church of Bute’s church centre in Rothesay’s High Street, is hosted by the Isle of Bute branch of the SNP and takes place on Tuesday, September 22 at 7.30pm. Admission is free.
