An exhibition of Bute paintings by a former Rothesay Academy art teacher was officially opened at the town’s library on Saturday.

The exhibition comprises 25 works by Ian McLachlan Scott under the title ‘Scotty at Seventy’, all of them views of or from some well-known local beauty spots, including St Ninian’s Bay, Ettrick Bay, Ardlamont Point, Glenmore and the hills of Arran.

Ian told his invited audience on Saturday: “My wife Lorraine once said she didn’t understand my obsession with Bute, but the people who live here understand it, because the island is a very special place.”

The exhibition opens to the public this Tuesday, April 16, and runs during the library’s usual opening hours until Friday, May 10.
