You’d be forgiven for thinking Mardi Gras was in full flow at Port Bannatyne on Thursday morning.

The sound of drums, however, was coming from North Bute Primary School who were demonstrating their Brazilian Samba drumming skills for parents and friends - skills they attained from a six-week Youth Music Initiative project.

The pupils also donned bright outfits to embrace the Brazilian theme.

Led by Stephen McNally, the project is one of many produced by the Creative Arts in Schools team at Argyll and Bute Council and has enabled 45 schools across the authority to participate in high quality cultural projects, often working with professional artists.
