VIDEO: Martin Simpson in concert on Bute

Waiting for Video...

Multi award-winning folk musician Martin Simpson weaved a magical spell over his first Bute audience when he played live in the stunning Marble Hall at Mount Stuart on Sunday.

Simpson, widely regarded as one of the UK’s top folk guitarists and singer-songwriters, drew from a rich back catalogue of his own work and those of others, including Lead Belly, Tom Waits and Bob Dylan, in a stunning set which left no-one in any doubt as to why he’s been nominated 23 times in the 11 years of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Our short clip features his version of Heartbreak Hotel, best known for being recorded by Elvis Presley but performed by Simpson as a tribute to the legendary Bert Jansch, who included the song on his 1982 album Heartbreak.
