The latest instalment in the children’s summer holiday programme run by local charity Achievement Bute reached a climax on Friday with a Puppet Promenade performance at Rothesay Joint Campus.

The show demonstrated the hard work of the children taking part throughout the week in making their own puppets, under the watchful eye of talented local puppeteer Colleen Magennis, and in using each of them to create one of five short shows.

The Circus Princess, one of five mini puppet shows featured in Achievement Bute's Puppet Promenade, performed at Rothesay Joint Campus on Friday, August 1, 2014.

This short video features brief exctracts from the five mini performances - The Circus Princess, Adventure of the Jungle Cats, An Undersea Adventure, George and the Pirate Treasure and Accidental Time Travel - and from Lost The Plot Again, Achievement Bute’s own fairytale featuring the Seven Dwarves, the Queen, Prince Phil (no, not that one) and the star of the show, Colleen’s version of Roald Dahl’s much-loved Big Friendly Giant.

Achievement Bute’s summer holiday activities continue next week with a series of workshops preparing the charity’s entry in the Rothesay Raft Race, taking place in Rothesay Bay on Sunday, August 10.
