The proceeds of a raffle at a Rothesay art gallery in aid of local charity Calum’s Cabin were presented on Saturday.

The Castle Gallery in High Street has been inviting customers to enter the prize draw to win a stunning painting of the island of Iona by David Gardner, who owns the gallery with his wife Caroline.

Caroline and Duncan Speirs from Calum’s Cabin came along to the gallery to accept a donation of £650 - while shortly before they arrived, the Gardners drew the name of local resident Karen Turnbull out of the lucky bag as winner of the painting.

Calum’s Cabin, which operates two holiday homes on the island for seriously ill children and their families, was set up in memory of the Speirs’ son Calum, who died from a brain tumour in 2007 but expressed a wish for families in similar situations to the Speirs to be able to enjoy a peaceful holiday on Bute.
