Rab Noakes’ Bute gig ‘will be rescheduled’

Rab Noakes' Craigmore Bowling Club gig on December 14 fell victim to the weather - but the organisers, Transclyde Music, are hoping to reschedule the concert for a date in the new year.

The group which organises a regular series of acoustic music concerts on Bute says a postponed gig in Rothesay with folk music legend Rab Noakes will be rescheduled for some time in 2014.

Noakes’ concert at Craigmore Bowling Club on December 14, when he was due to appear alongside Fraser Speirs and with support from Alan Tennie, was called off when the trio were unable to reach the island after high winds prevented the Rothesay-Wemyss Bay ferry sailing for the entire day.

Richard Snape from Transclyde Music, the promoters of the gig, told The Buteman this week: “Rab is tied up with Celtic Connections in January then off on a wee tour with Barbara Dickson.

“He will make good his booking but probably after May. Tickets will hold good but if anyone wants their money back that’s fine too.”

Transclyde has also unveiled details of its concerts on Bute during the first half of 2014, beginning with Belfast-born singer and songwriter Andy White, who will play at Musicker cafe in Rothesay on February 8. For more details see this week’s issue of The Buteman - on sale from Thursday, January 9.
