A novel set on a fictional version of Bute and written by a former resident of the island will be released in paperback next week.
Sealed With A Kiss, by Rachael Lucas, hit the Amazon UK top ten when it was released in Kindle format last year and has since been downloaded to more than 130,000 of the devices around the world.
Auchenmor, the island on which the novel is set, is based heavily on Bute, where Rachael lived on the Mount Stuart estate before having her four children.
Following her self-publishing success, Rachael, who lives in Southport with her partner and their combined family of six children, signed with a major literary agent and has since signed a threebook deal with Pan Macmillan.
The romantic comedy tells the tale of Kate, who, having been dumped by her boring boyfriend, takes a job as Girl Friday on a Scottish island - and Rachael has already had enquiries from a well-known Hollywood producer about the book.
“I’m really excited to see Sealed with a Kiss in paperback, and can’t wait to see it in the shops,” she said.
“Writing with six children creating chaos around me can be an interesting experience, but they’re all very proud to be mentioned in the book. Hopefully it makes up for all the nights they end up having pizza whilst I’m finishing off another chapter!”
