Bute piper Daniel wins Burgh Cup at Cowal Gathering

Young Bute piper Daniel McDermott brought three trophies home to Bute, including the prestigious Burgh Cup, after a highly successful day in the solo piping competition at the Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon on Friday.

Daniel, a member of the Inveraray and District Pipe Band and a former Rothesay Academy school captain who will soon begin studying piping at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, was first in the open under-18 march, Strathspey and reel, first in the open under-18 piobaireachd and first in the local over-16 march, Strathspey and reel.

In addition to the Burgh Cup, Daniel’s triple trophy haul also featured the Inverchapel Challenge Trophy and the Lamont Shield Challenge Trophy. Congratulations!
