Bute Museum has launched a new ‘Friends’ scheme aimed at encouraging people on Bute and beyond to support its work today and in the future.
In return for a modest annual payment to provide more funds for the maintenance and enhancement of the museum, Friends of Bute Museum will get free entry during normal opening hours, a regular newsletter and an annual ‘Friends Night’ to be held at the museum in Rothesay’s Stuart Street.
The museum traces the geological history of the island and tells the story of its flora and fauna, its remarkable archaeological heritage and its more recent human story.
Bute Museum is not run by the local council and receives no subsidies from the Museums and Galleries of Scotland. It currently relies for its income on visitors, a small trust fund, the occasional benefactor and support from the Buteshire Natural History.
For more information on the museum’s work and on becoming a Friend of Bute Museum, email firstname.lastname@example.org, visit the Museum’s website or call in to the Museum itself during normal opening hours (Mon-Sat 10.30am-3.30pm and Sundays 1.30-3.30pm until September 30, Tues/Wed/Thu/Sat 1.30-3.30pm from October 1).
