Light Up Bute, organisers of a range of community events including this fancy dress parade on Sunday, July 20, has been given a 6,500 grant by the Big Lottery's Awards for All scheme.

Three community groups on Bute have received Awards for All lottery grants totalling £14,750.

Bute Flower Club received an award of £3,750, while Light Up Bute received £6,500 from the same Big Lottery fund.

Those are in addition to the £4,500 grant given to the island’s Saturday Art Club, reported here last month.

The latest round of Awards for All grants handed out a total of £42,314 to community groups and projects across the Argyll and Bute area.

Local MSP Michael Russell said: “This is a tremendous investment in Argyll and Bute’s community groups from Big Lottery and they should all be congratulated on their work in successfully obtaining these grants.

“Whether seeking funds to improve an area or to fund a local project, I would encourage all groups across the constituency to contact the Big Lottery.”
