Sunny skies for Port’s JMF Tankard

Sunday saw the 18th JMF Tankard take place over a sunny Port Bannatyne.

With a healthy field all out to take advantage of the freshly cut fairways and greens it was of no surpise that the scoring was low the best score of the day came from Liam Shanks with a level par 68 -6 to give him a net 62.

He beat Jim Thom into second place with a net 63- Jim missing a four footer on the last which would have won him the tankard on count back.

Third was Davie Greer who was a further sjot back on net 64. The scratch was won by Donald Standaloft also with a level par 68 D- onald showing some good early form.

This Saturday is the spring handicap which will see the removal of the winter rules while sunday is the first round of the m an m trophy over Rothesay Golf Club.
