Graham McArthur opened the winter season at Kingarth with a splendid 65, giving him 45 points in the Stableford competition.
Graham had 3 birdies, at the 2nd, 3rd and 9th, on the way to a score of 31 for the first 9 holes, followed by a par 34 for the second 9 which contained one birdie, at the 14th, and a bogey 5 at the 10th.
Graham was closely followed by Captain Steve Neilson and Jim Thom, both with 44 points. Steve had 3s at the 1st, 4th, 11th and 17th holes, earning him 4 birdie points at each, and contributing to an outward half of 23 points, followed by 21 points for the inner 9. Jim came home in 33 strokes, with birdies at the 17th and 18th holes, for 24 points, following 38 strokes worth 20 points for the outward half.
Graham’s handicap is now 5, Steve’s 16 and Jim’s 10.
It was good to see Tommy Burke back in competitive play, a welcome return after a lengthy absence.
