Stuart McKechnie managed to hold on to win the Seafoods singles stableford competition on Wednesday night at Rothesay Golf Club, winning with a score of 42 points - one point ahead of Donnie McDermid.
Stuart was two under par after 12 holes and looked to be cruising to a comfortable win but a combination of nerves and the usual tricky finish almost cost him the winner’s spot.
Another player who could have snatched the victory away from Stuart was Ron Cuthbertson who finished third with a score of 39 points, this after three-putting the 16th, 17th and 18th holes.
Only two players scored a two on Wednesday - John Duncan at the 13th hole, and Malcolm Brown at the 8th.
In Friday night’s medal greenkeeper Shaun Kernaghan was the winner with a gross 72 less 8 for a net 64, one shot ahead of Graham McArthur 71 less 6 net 65 and Stephen Reynolds 78 less 13 also net 65.
