Previous success costs Port golfers prizes

Many Port golfers were hampered at the weekend in the Salmon Leap due to previous successes.

It seems that previous success cost a number of players prizes at this week’s Salmon Leap at Port Bannaytne Golf Club.

Robert Jardine scored the best stableford tally of the night with 31 points but his previous success this month cost him a minus two to give him 29. Donald Standaloft scored 30 points but, like Robert, his previous month’s success cost him but with only one point bringing him down to 29.

Then along came Calum MacPhail with his score of 29 but no minus points - and the better half of the three - to take first place with Robert resigned to second and Donald with zilch.

Alex Greer won the £1 sweep medal on Sunday with the CSS being a non-counter.

This weekend is The Hector Scott with the best two aggregate net scores over Saturday and Sunday taking the trophy. Members are reminded that no play can take place prior to 9am on Saturday.

Entry sheets for The McFadyen Trophy and The Cowal Builders Seniors Open are on the foyer notice board, as is a sheet asking for members to sign up for the social matches.

Knockout draws are now on the locker room board for The Kames Cup, The Seniors Championship, the Hutchison Cup (4 ball) and the Greensome Salver (foursomes).
