ROBERT WALKER led the way with a fine hat-trick as Bute marched through to the second round of the Camanachd Cup with a convincing 6-1 victory over island rivals Skye at the Meadows on Saturday.
Gordon McMillan drove home the opener from 15 yards’ range before Walker added the second after a nice one-two between John McCallum and Hector Whitelaw.
Walker’s second, two minutes before half-time, was the pick of the bunch, a well-hit drive from a McMillan cutback, though Skye reduced the deficit just after the break through Alastair MacDonald’s strike.
Whitelaw restored Bute’s three-goal advantage from a corner on the hour mark, and doubled his own tally from the penalty spot seven minutes later, before Walker completed his hat-trick on 74 minutes, slipping the ball past Skye keeper Michael Nicolson from close range.
The second round draw will be made in Glasgow on Monday; full match report to follow.
