Bute’s P5 and under shinty team continued their successful start to the new year by winning the Robert McAlister Memorial Trophy at Rothesay Pavilion on Sunday.

Fresh from their third place finish in the national First Shinty finals in Fort William the previous day, Bute won all their games en route to securing the trophy - our video clip shows Bute’s second goal in their 3-1 win over Kyles in the final.

The tournament, played annually in memory of Robert McAlister, who died aged 9 in a quad biking accident at his family’s farm near Rothesay in 2010, attracted visiting teams from Kyles, Inveraray, Strachur and Dunoon in two sections - P5 and under and P7 and under.

The George Reid Memorial Trophy, the prize in the P7 and under section, was won by Kyles, who beat Inveraray 6-1 in the final.
