Robert Walker, seen here in action for Bute in a 12-0 demolition of Strachur in Rothesay in August 2013, celebrated his return to shinty with a goal against the same opponents on Saturday, March 14, 2015.

Robert Walker marked his return to shinty action with the crucial opening goal on Saturday as Bute’s first team opened their South Division One campaign with a 3-0 success away to Strachur.

Walker, who missed the whole of the 2014 campaign, broke the deadlock after 60 goalless minutes at Strachurmore, paving the way for James Dunn to add the second ten minutes later before Stuart Stirling made certain of the points nine minutes from the end.

Bute coach Ted McDonald told The Buteman: “The first half was a good, even game - both goalkeepers had some tremendous saves to keep it goalless at half time.

“Even after we scored first it was still an end-to-end game, and it was a good all-round team effort from us.”
