Bute Shinty Club’s first team saw their winning start to life in South Division One ended at the Meadows on Saturday by Fraser Watt’s late goal for Inveraray.

Adam Stirling gave Bute the interval advantage with his first goal of the season, but despite having almost all the pressure, a Bute side hit by several injuries - including one to their most potent goal threat, Robert Walker - were unable to kill off the Argyll outfit’s second team, who grabbed a 1-1 draw thanks to Watt’s strike 12 minutes from time.

The injuries which affected Bute’s first team squad on Saturday also meant Bute were unable to muster enough bodies to fulfil their second team fixture away to Glasgow Mid Argyll in South Division Two on Saturday; the points have been awarded to GMA.
