Bute Shinty Club’s 2016 fixture list will begin to take shape when the draws for five of the new season’s cup competitions are made on Monday.

The Inverness Museum and Art Gallery will host the draws for the Balliemore Cup (involving Bute’s first team), the Sutherland and Bullough Cups (in which Bute’s second team are entered), and the north area competitions for the MacTavish Cup and Strathdearn Cup.

Bute’s first team progressed to the quarter-finals of last season’s Balliemore Cup - a competition they’ve won five times - beating Skye in a penalty shoot-out before losing to Kilmallie in the last eight.

Bute’s second team had less luck in 2015’s cup competitions, losing at home to Kinlochshiel in the first round of the Sutherland Cup and to Inveraray in the first round of the Bullough Cup.

The sport’s full 2016 fixture list, including all league matches, is expected to be published next month.
