Bute’s young shinty players are to receive a boost in the form of new equipment thanks to a grant from the Rothesay Community Sport Hub.

The grant of £1,270, the first to be awarded by the sport hub since it was set up last year, will be put towards new training and playing equipment for the island’s under-14 and primary school teams.

Alan Liddell, the secretary of Bute Shinty Club, said: “This will be of great benefit to our young players in their development in our sport and will enable our youth coaches Iain McDonald, James Craig and Duncan Cowan to expand and provide more variety in their training routines.”
