Shinty: Mixed fortunes on the road for both Bute teams

Bute Shinty Club’s two teams experienced mixed fortunes on the road on Saturday on their return to action after the previous week’s big freeze.

Two goals in four minutes early in the second half, by Robert Walker and John McCallum, earned the Bute senior side a 2-0 win over Lochside Rovers at Mossfield Park - although the relatively close final score might suggest that a re-shaped Bute outfit are still finding their feet at the lower level of the game after their relegation from the Premiership last season,

Bute’s second string, meanwhile, fell to a 6-0 defeat against Inveraray at Winterton Park on Saturday, with Neil Campbell scoring a hat-trick, Neil Shaw a double and Ross Anderson also finding the net for the Argyll side.
