Bute Shinty Club’s two teams enjoyed contrasting league fortunes on Saturday - though there was no shortage of goals for spectators at either match to enjoy.
Bute’s senior team climbed into third place in Marine Harvest South Division One with an 8-3 home win over Kilmory - though they had to recover from a slow start to do it, with Ian Robertson and Ewan Carmichael putting the Argyll side into an early 2-0 lead.
Once Bute clicked, however, they proved much too strong for their visitors; Robert Walker led the way with a six-goal haul for Bute, while Gordon McMillan and John MacCallum weighed in with one apiece.
Sadly, Bute’s second team were unable to make it a double success for the club after their 6-2 defeat against their Kyles Athletic counterparts at Tighnabruaich.
Bute coach David Kilpatrick rolled back the years by finding the net for the first time this season, while Tam McCready was Bute’s other goalscorer; Kyles’ goals were supplied by George Thomson (2), Scott MacDonald (2), Matthew MacColl and Roddy MacColl.
