Bute Shinty Club’s first team coach Graham Fisher has acknowledged that Caberfeidh were deserved winners of Saturday’s Camanachd Cup preliminary round tie.

The Strathpeffer side trailed to a James Craig goal for Bute at half time at Castle Leod, but scored four times without reply in the second period to secure a first round tie at home to Oban Celtic.

“We started brightly,” Fisher told The Buteman, “but Iain MacDonald took a nasty knock to the knee in the first half and that knocked us out of our stride a bit and we struggled after half time.

“Caberfeidh rejigged their team a bit at half time and we couldn’t cope with them after that.

“Perhaps the long journey played a part as well, but we just couldn’t do anything up front after the break, and in the end Caberfeidh deserved the win.”
