Bute Shinty Club will take on Glasgow Mid Argyll in this year’s Mòd Cup match in Paisley next month.

The two sides have already faced each other on five separate occasions this year, with the Glasgow club’s first team winning all three games against their Bute counterparts - twice in the league and once in the Glasgow Celtic Society Cup - while Bute’s second team redressed the balance against GMA’s seconds with home-and-away league victories.

The Mòd Cup match is contested annually between the two teams closest to the town which hosts the annual celebration of Gaelic music, language and culture; this year’s event is taking place in Paisley for the first time, and the cup will be contested at the University of the West of Scotland’s Thornly Park Campus in the town on Saturday, October 12, with a 1pm throw-up.

Bute’s last Mòd Cup appearance was just 12 months ago, when the club’s second team lost 9-1 to a strong Kyles Athletic side in Dunoon.
