Shinty: Bute teams make Pavilion a fortress as junior league comes to Rothesay

Bute Shinty Club’s two teams made the most of home advantage on Saturday as the second round of the Cowal and Bute First Shinty Winter League was played at Rothesay Pavilion.

Bute’s P5 and under team won all four of their games - two each against Kyles Athletic and Strachur - without conceding a goal, while the Bute P7 and under team also finished the day undefeated after drawing with Kyles and Inveraray and beating Dunoon and Strachur.

P5 and under - Bute 3 Kyles 0; Bute 4 Strachur 0; Bute 1 Kyles 0; Bute 4 Strachur 0.

P7 and under - Bute 1 Kyles 1; Bute 2 Strachur 0; Bute 1 Inveraray 1; Bute 1 Dunoon 0.

The first round of the competition took place in Dunoon last month, and the third and final round of fixtures will also be played in Dunoon, on Saturday, February 8. The winning teams in each section will go forward to the national First Shinty finals, to be played in Fort William later in the year.
