Bute Shinty Club’s first team will face arguably their toughest test of the season so far this Saturday when local rivals Kyles Athletic visit Rothesay in the first round of the Artemis Macaulay Cup.

The game will be Bute’s first against Premiership opposition since their relegation from the sport’s top flight at the end of last season.

It will also be the first game back in Rothesay for Kyles’ Roberto Zavaroni, who made the switch from Bute to the Tighnabruaich club during the close season.

Saturday’s cup tie, which gets under way at 3pm, forms the second half of a double bill of shinty action at the Meadows, with Bute’s second team taking on Tayforth in South Division Two at 12 noon.
