Bute Shinty Club’s first team have been drawn away to Glenorchy in the first round of the 2015 Glasgow Celtic Society Cup.

The first round draw for the sport’s senior cup competition in the south of Scotland was announced by the Glasgow Celtic Society on Twitter on Wednesday. In the other ties, Oban Celtic will be at home to Kilmory, Strachur play host to Ballachulish and Taynuilt have home advantage against Aberdour.

In recent years the competition has been dominated by the ‘big two’ south-of-Scotland clubs, Kyles and Inveraray, though Bute - who have never won the trophy - reached three finals in a row, in 2005, 2006 and 2007, losing on the first occasion to Oban Camanachd and on the latter two to Inveraray.

Glenorchy and Bute are already due to meet in Dalmally in a pre-season friendly on February 21, as part of a double-header which will also see the two clubs’ second teams lock horns in a warm-up fixture.

The Camanachd Association is due to release the sport’s full 2015 fixture list on Thursday.
