Bute Shinty Club's home ground at the Meadows in Rothesay was declared unplayable for the fourth week in a row.

Bute Shinty Club’s first team fixture at home to Beauly on Saturday, March 22 has been postponed due to an unplayable pitch.

The surface at the Meadows was just about playable on Friday lunchtime, but a series of heavy showers during the course of the afternoon left Bute officials with no choice but to call the National Division fixture off.

Due to the travelling distances involved and the precarious condition of Beauly’s own Braeview Park the decision has also been made not to reverse the fixture.

The news means Bute’s first team still haven’t played a game in 2014, with the new season now four weeks old.

The Bute second team’s South Division Two fixture against Tayforth in Musselburgh on Saturday is still on at the time of writing.
