Bute Shinty Club go into their clash with table-toppers Oban Celtic on July 4 in positive mood after back-to-back 5-0 wins over Kilmory.

Bute Shinty Club’s first team manager says he’s happy at the progress being made by his players as they step up their league title bid.

Ted McDonald was speaking ahead of what could be the toughest test of Bute’s South Division One campaign so far, when league leaders Oban Celtic visit the Meadows on July 4.

“They’re coming on,” McDonald said of his charges.

“It’s taking a wee while to get things going, but they’re starting to play some good shinty as a team - and the forward line in particular are playing a lot better.”

Cup commitments over the last two months have left Bute playing catch-up in the league, but with games in hand on all of their rivals and back-to-back 5-0 wins over Kilmory under their belt, the islanders go into this Saturday’s clash with the table-toppers in confident mood.
