Bute Shinty Club’s players, officials and supporters gathered on Saturday night to celebrate a season of success at the club’s player of the year awards.

In a year when defence was key to the success of the Bute first team in winning the Marine Harvest South Division One championship, captain and goalkeeper Kevin Queen was chosen by manager Ted McDonald as his player of the year, while Chrissy Lawrence won the first team players’ player of the year prize.

William Boag won the second team player of the year award, while the young player of the year accolade went to Ryan Craig.

The prizes were presented by Katie Ross from club sponsor Mac’s Bar, who in return received a bouquet of flowers, presented by the new young player of the year, as a gesture of thanks.
