Bute began their 2014 programme on Sunday with a trip to Kilmarnock RFC for a friendly against a team known as ‘TRI Rugby’.

The team is a project which uses the sport of rugby to develop young men with learning difficulties and disabilities and encourages them to become more social and widens their life skills and experiences.

They play semi-regular games made up of a 50-50 mix of those with learning difficulties and those without, and a close game ensued, with Paul Toop and Sam Lawrie scoring Bute’s tries before a last-minute score by the TRI winger gave Bute’s opponents a 17-10 win.
