Bute Rugby Club played their first home fixture in more than three years on Saturday against a social team from Allan Glen’s RFC in Bishopbriggs.

The match ended in a 60-5 defeat for the island club, but a post on the club’s Facebook page after the match stated: “A great game considering Bute had their first home competitive match for a number of years versus a very experienced Glens team! Lots of positives as we look to the future!”

Bute’s series of summer friendly fixtures continues with a home game against Cowal on Saturday, August 10.

Then, as part of the annual RBS RugbyForce Weekend, the club is holding a mini rugby session for children of primary school age, from 11am until noon on Sunday, August 11, followed by a family tag rugby festival from 1pm onwards.
