Former Bute player Anthony ‘Bubba’ Hayes led his All-Stars team to victory in the island club’s second annual ten-a-side tournament in Rothesay on Saturday.

Eight teams took part, representing clubs from throughout west and central Scotland, including Cowal, Grangemouth, holders Allan Glen’s and TRI Rugby from Kilmarnock, with Bubba’s All-Stars - a team loosely based around Cumbernauld RFC - defeating Bute 45-0 in a final played in glorious summer sunshine in front of a large crowd of spectators.

The second-tier Shield final saw Allan Glen’s defeat Cowal 38-12, while the third-prize Bottle final honours went to Oban, who beat TRI Rugby 27-12.
