Bute Rugby Club are taking part in this year’s RBS RugbyForce Weekend on August 10 and 11.
Bute plan to showcase all that is great about Rugby and pack it into two days of rugby events, beginning on Saturday, August 10, when Bute will play near neighbours Cowal RFC in the second part of a pre-season friendly double header.
This will be a testing encounter for Bute, as their opponents finished in the top half of RBS West Region League 3.
Sunday, August 11 will see a community-based family tag rugby festival take place in the afternoon. It will consist of teams of six players and will include at least one player under 16 and a female player.
Prior to this, on Sunday morning, the club will host a ‘Give Rugby a Try’ session for all prospective mini rugby players. This will be open to all children in P3-P7 who want to learn how to play the game and get involved in some fun drills.
Exact timings and the finer details will be released closer to the time.
An RBS spokesperson said: “As part of RBS RugbyForce, we want to help open up your club to the community and drum up new supporters and players from your local area, get all those odd jobs done ahead of the new season and celebrate all the great things your club has to offer.”
Meanwhile, Bute Rugby Club is encouraging all prospective players and members to come down to the Meadows and have a bash at Friday night tag rugby. Numbers have been averaging over 25 every week and the ages range from three years old to 53!
Senior training continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm, in addition to family tag rugby on Fridays at 6pm.
