Kiwi Craig Brown converted all six Bute tries in Saturday's 42-0 home win over Cumbernauld's second XV.

Six unanswered tries saw Bute Rugby Club end a seven-year wait for a win in style with a 42-0 defeat of Cumbernauld’s 2nd XV on Saturday.

With expectations high after encouraging performances against Cowal, Allan Glen’s and Bishopton and in regular training sessions, the Bute pack tested their opponents straight from the kick-off, while the backs demonstrated some good running lines, relishing conditions which were ideal for a good handling game.

Player-coach Aidan Canavan said after the game: “There was a distinct change in the pre-match warm up, players were even speaking of feeling nervous. The team, for the first time, could see a win on the cards. Expectations were high.”
