The annual Round Bute Race, organised by the Isle of Bute Sailing Club, takes place on Saturday, June 11.

The 2016 Round Bute Race takes place this weekend, and organisers from the Isle of Bute Sailing Club are hoping for a bumper number of entries for the competition.

There are two experienced sailors who have offered to crew on a yacht - please contact them directly at alisdair@alisdairjohnston.co.uk for more information.

Paul Stanton has agreed to act as Assistant Race Officer and this will be Richard Fairman’s last year as Race Officer.

Trophy holders from last year are asked to return trophies the day before or on the day of the race.

A cheese and wine reception on Friday, June 10 will kick off the weekend’s festivities, and there will be a buffet at 8pm after the race on Saturday.

Volunteers are needed to provide food for the buffet on the evening of the race and to help with the bar. Entry forms and the race instructions can be downloaded from the club’s website.

The club accepts entries right up to the ten minute gun, and will even send out the safety boat to collect the entry form and, of course, the race fee!

Best of luck to all taking part.
