Galatea 2 have taken over at the top of the 2014-15 Isle of Bute Pool League.

The Isle of Bute Pool League has a new leading team as the competition enters the second half of the 2014-15 season.

The Galatea 2 team took over at the top of the standings after the Struan Bar team, who had led the standings since the start of the campaign, fell to a surprise 6-3 defeat at the hands of Galatea 1 in the first round of games since the turn of the year.

And the previous leaders fell further behind after losing 5-4 in the clash of the top two on January 15.

Galatea 2 now lead the league, which is sponsored by Gamba’s Bar, by three points from the Struan, with Golfers 1 a further six points behind in third place.

There are joint leaders in all three sections in the battle for individual honours: Richard Reid and Chez Harrison of Galatea 2 are tied on seven wins apiece in the overall contest, with Debbie McQueenie (Gamba’s 1) and Edith MacDonald (Golfers 2) tied on three wins in the ladies’ contest.

Marcus Allan (Kingarth) and Connor Toon (Gamba’s 2) each have five wins to their name in the fight for under-21 prize.
