Last week saw the playing of the last of this year’s Bute Bowling Association Trophies, when the semi final and the final of the Stonehaven Trophy were played for.

Tuesday, August 16 saw Frank Hepburn of Craigmore Bowling Club take on Gordon Turner of Ardbeg Bowling Club in the semi-final played at Rothesay Bowling Club’s Ballochgoy green.

The first few ends saw both Frank and Gordon playing well, but as the game progressed Gordon settled down to a good line and length, and ran out a comfortable winner in the end.

The final, played at the Craigmore Bowling Green, saw Rothesay Bowling Club’s Brian MacKillop take on Gordon Turner of Ardbeg. This was a much closer game than the semi final match, and in the end, was won by Brian MacKillop.

Before presenting the prizes, Bute Bowling Association Secretary Jim Miller thanked the Craigmore Club for the use of the Green, the Craigmore, President Hugh Yeamans for marking the tie, and Margaret for the bar.

Bute Bowling Association would like to thank the Bute clubs for the use of their greens and facilities throughout the playing of all the Buteshire games.
