Ali Carmichael’s double strike helped Bute Shinty Club’s second team to a 4-0 home win over Aberdour in Marine Harvest South Division Two on Saturday.
Carmichael’s quick-fire double early in the second half, following his hat-trick against Ballachullish on April 19, put Bute firmly in control at the Meadows after young Ryan Craig’s strike had given the islanders a slim interval advantage.
And Liam Poole’s well-taken strike put the icing on the cake as the men in red chalked up a second successive home win - completing a home-and-away double over the Fife side in the process.
The victory also completed a double for Bute over Aberdour on Saturday, following a 5-0 win for the island club’s under-14 team against their Aberdour counterparts in the two teams’ first match in the 2014 South of Scotland under-14 League.
* Meanwhile, Bute’s first team were knocked out of the Artemis Macaulay Cup at the first round stage on Saturday after a 4-1 defeat away to National Division rivals Glasgow Mid Argyll.
Craig Anderson gave the home side the early advantage, and Angus MacIntosh’s quick-fire double put GMA firmly in control at the interval.
Innes MacMillan added a fourth just before the hour mark, before Chris McGowan notched his first goal in a Bute first team jersey to give the island side a crumb of consolation.
